Your first visit
We value your time and appreciate your trust in Dr. Zak Dental Care. During your initial visit, you will receive a dental exam, oral cancer screening, periodontal disease evaluation, previous restoration and treatment evaluation, and tooth surface decay evaluation. After these evaluations, our team might recommend preventive care such as fluoride treatment, sealants, breath control, or gum disease treatment. Prevention is crucial when combating periodontal disease and maintaining overall health. Routine daily brushing, flossing, and regular dental appointments are key to avoiding dental issues such as tooth loss, gum disease, and bad breath. Our team is more than happy to spend time discussing your dental history and available treatment plans.
Sealants are resin material vital in keeping plaque and acids from deteriorating tooth enamel. To protect your teeth from decay, sealants are placed on the tooth’s surface and bonded into the pits and fissures to act as barriers. Cavities form when these pits and fissures decay. The American Dental Association (ADA) estimates that 80% of cavities are caused by this occurrence. When the sealant is properly placed, decay is prevented, as the resin is sturdy enough to withstand the effects of chewing. Reapplication is not necessary for several years; however, the condition of existing sealants will be assessed during routine dental visits.
